- radio.net app now supports Chromecast & Chromecast Audio
- Free update, new features
- Stream directly from the device rather than your phone
Hamburg, 02.06.2016 / As radio.net, the owner of the radio platform radio.net and the app of the same name, made known today, the radio.net app has an important update to announce: the current version of the application now also supports Google’s Chromecast and Chromecast Audio devices. Once set up streams transmit directly through Chromecast, by loading from the internet, rather than through smartphones. You can then continue to use your smartphone as usual, whether it’s for gaming, browsing the web or even making phone calls – the radio stations will continue to run.
Using the app and Chromecast Audio together can turn even old pieces of equipment into smart internet radio-players, from television sets and stereos to the radio in the kitchen: podcasts and radio streams can now be played back anywhere, something of particular importance in view of the upcoming European Championships, for this way it is much easier to make sure you don’t miss a minute of live action.
radio.net provides users with a well-sorted and comprehensive selection of radio stations, internet radio stations and podcasts from all around the world, on the web and in the appropriate app, which is available on iOS and Android. The app has already been downloaded 20 million times and is one of the most popular music apps in the world.
“Our app is very popular and is growing rapidly, therefore we are doing everything we can to offer an even better experience to our millions of users,” Bernhard Bahners, CEO of radio.net.
About Chromecast
Google’s Chromecast is a streaming device that makes television sets able to stream. To do this the device must first be connected via HDMI, after which it can extract streams from the internet or receive data, video and audio content from your phone, PC or tablet. Chromecast Audio is a version of Chromecast with an audio port that can transmit music from apps such as the radio.net app over various speakers, from stereos to old kitchen radio sets. A multi-room setup is also possible. Google has already sold around 30 million Chromecast devices and thus holds the position of being the number 1 streaming device provider. The device itself costs just under 40 euros and is available to buy in all electronic stores.
