Hamburg, 12 June 2018 – In the coming weeks, radio.de is the ideal service for all football fans who want to follow the World Cup around the clock. With the exclusive FOOTBALLPEN, the matches can even be followed discreetly during working hours.
A large number of radio stations are broadcasting live from the football World Cup. The public-service radio stations of ARD are reporting on all 64 matches. The German team’s matches and all games from the quarter-finals onwards will be broadcast in full. Private stations such as Radio Hamburg, Antenne Bayern and 104.6 RTL are also broadcasting jointly from Russia. In addition, there are numerous podcasts that report regularly on the World Cup. This keeps users supplied with all the scores, news on every team and background reports.
But beyond the pitch, too, web radios with the best party hits create the right atmosphere before and after the matches. During the World Cup, radio.de puts the best stations for football fans in the spotlight, making it the ideal companion for this major sporting event.
With the exclusive FOOTBALLPEN, radio.de presents a pen that uses bone conduction to let you follow the matches on the radio in any situation and completely discreetly. The device, which was developed by Havas Düsseldorf together with radio.de, looks like a ballpoint pen and can be connected to the radio.de app via Bluetooth. The limited first edition is being given away via radio.de’s social media channels.
radio.de is available free of charge as a website and app on all smartphones and tablets, as an Amazon Alexa Skill and directly via SONOS speakers. The service is also present on the smart TV platforms tvOS, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV.
“Radio is right there at the World Cup and, beyond the pitch as well, provides the right atmosphere and all the important news. On all important connected devices, our service offers users the complete selection, from live broadcasts to podcasts to the right music. With the FOOTBALLPEN, we also have the perfect gadget for employees who don’t want to miss a second. This way, we offer the right World Cup program in every situation,” says Bernhard Bahners, Managing Director of radio.de GmbH.
Darren Richardson, Chief Creative Officer Havas Düsseldorf: “The World Cup is one of the most important major events, followed intensely worldwide and especially here in Germany. Given the time difference in the host country Russia, it quickly became clear that work ethic and football fever would collide here. So we wanted to come up with a solution that charmingly answers the question of either-or with both-and: with the FOOTBALLPEN, together with radio.net, we have found a way to bring the World Cup even into the lunchtime meeting. Or simply: everywhere.”
