Major app update. The new radio.de app combines podcatcher and radio player in one service.

  • radio.de, Germany’s largest radio platform, brings together the best radio and podcast experience in one clearly organized app. On the web, the podcasts are available via the new service GetPodcast.de. This makes the vast diversity of the audio world easily accessible to everyone, and the right program is always available, anytime and anywhere.

Hamburg, 24 March 2020**.**With the new update for iOS and Android, radio.de combines more than 30,000 radio stations and over 600,000 podcasts in one app.

The audio service offers users easy access to the huge selection of podcasts from all over the world. Editorial recommendations and curated playlists on the most important topics, along with a handy search that makes podcasts, episodes, topics and guests easy to find, distill the full diversity for every user. This way, everyone keeps track of their personal audio world.

With the update, the free app becomes a combined radio player and podcatcher that lets users discover new content at any time or simply enjoy their favorite stations.

Practical offline features, such as the automatic download of new episodes via Wi-Fi and smart management of downloaded files, make the app the perfect companion even without an internet connection.

The current situation shows emphatically what an important role journalistic audio offerings such as the NDR Info podcast “Das Coronavirus-Update mit Christian Drosten” play. The podcast world spans every subject area, from science and news, TV series and streaming tips, sports and nutrition, politics and business, to entertainment and high-quality children’s programs.

“Podcasts are the radio of the future. 26% of Germans already listen to podcasts regularly. It is time for the remaining 74% to discover the possibilities of this media genre quickly and easily as well, and to experience the fascination and the strengths of this medium.

*Our new app is a radio player and a podcatcher that puts the relevant content front and center for all users. This way, we give even more people the opportunity to discover a whole new audio world. Our service ensures that everyone keeps track of the rapidly growing range of content and quickly finds the next exciting episode and the right station. Nobody has to be a tech nerd to discover podcasts, but anyone can become one once they have found their favorite podcasts”,*says Bernhard Bahners, Managing Director of radio.net

“By taking part as one of the initiators of the Deutscher Podcast Preis, we underline the importance that podcasts have in the media landscape and in our strategy. After the planned live event with Ariana Baborie and Micky Beisenherz had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus, the award ceremony will now take place in podcast form on 26 March 2020. Of course, this very special podcast can also be heard on radio.de.”

The free apps for iOS and Android are available now in the respective stores.
