radio.de brings a comprehensive selection of podcasts and web radio to the car with Apple CarPlay.

  • More than 30,000 radio stations and over 900,000 podcasts now also available on every journey via Apple CarPlay.

Hamburg, 10 June 2020. With the current iOS update, Germany’s largest radio platform is compatible with Apple CarPlay. The service thus makes more than 30,000 radio stations and over 900,000 podcasts available via Apple CarPlay-compatible car radios and entertainment systems as well.

This means that all favorite stations can easily be received via the car’s entertainment system, even beyond broadcast areas and FM frequencies. Location data is also used to display local stations, so that current traffic reports and regional news are always just one click away.

In addition to the large selection of stations, the world of podcasts in particular offers variety on every journey. radio.de’s selection now comprises over 900,000 podcasts from Germany and all over the world. Particularly handy is the display of recently played podcasts and episodes, so that individual episodes can be resumed at the right spot directly via the car radio.

The intuitive and simple operation via the Apple CarPlay system is adapted to the in-car usage situation. Clear menu navigation and large elements ensure that attention is not distracted from the road.

“In the car, the spoken word is still the best medium. Podcasts and radio stations are the perfect companions for this usage scenario. With the Apple CarPlay integration, we enable an even greater selection of content that can be used with simple and safe operation, even while driving.” says Bernhard Bahners, Managing Director of radio.net. “With our service, we bring together the full diversity of audio in one clear app. In addition to the classic stations, which can thus be used independently of FM frequencies and broadcast areas, there is a large selection of special music streams and podcasts that shed light on every area of interest. And with the new news format ‘RND-Update’, we offer news with one click together with the RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland. The podcast always delivers the latest news from Germany and the world in 120 seconds and provides a quick news overview on demand. With this versatile audio offering, any traffic jam feels shorter.”
